Magick in the Workplace

magick at work

Since we spend a lot of our time at work, it makes sense to make use of our magickal skills in the workplace. Below are some ideas for incorporating spells and magick into your workplace:

Create a Work Altar

Since the workplace is often about the least spiritual place you’ll be all day, it may be helpful to have a little altar to remind you of your spiritual practice on a daily basis.

It’s quite easy to create a discrete workplace altar which would just look like a decoration to most people. Pick out a space on your desk, and place representations of the five elements on it.

For example:

  • A rock, crystal, orgonite or salt lamp for Earth
  • A feather for Air
  • A decorative candle for Fire
  • A glass for Water
  • A small statue or figurine to represent Spirit

Purifying Your Work Space with Essential Oils

For a daily work purification practice, fill a small spray bottle with water and essential oils of your choosing. If you want the bottle to last for longer, you can add some alcohol to it to preserve the solution and keep it bacteria-free.

When you feel like your space needs to be purified, spray the mixture in the air while chanting an incantation of purification in your head.

If any of your coworkers are sensitive to the smell of essential oils, you can also mix up a solution of sea salt and water, and use this instead.

Strategic Use of Crystals

You can use healing crystals to create the environment you want in your workplace. For grounding and protection, use crystals such as black tourmaline, shungite and hematite. For focus and cocnentration, use fluorite or amethyst. If you want to be in a more positive mood at work, use a crystal such as carnelian or rose quartz to lighten up the atmosphere.

The best thing about crystals is that they look so pretty, people will think that you just have them as a decoration!

An Office Blessing

Use this to bless your office (you might want to do this after everyone has gone home, or before people arrive in the morning). You’ll need four coins.

Starting with the corner closest to the North, and going clockwise, put a coin in each corner.

As you put each coin down, say the chant for that direction:

“Watchtowers of the North and of Earth,
Lend your stabilizing energies to all that is done in this office [cubicle, space].
With harm to none, so mote it be.”

“Watchtowers of the East and of Air,
Lend clarity and inspiration to all that is done in this office.
With harm to none, so mote it be.”

“Watchtowers of the South and of Fire,
Lend your passion and energy to all that is done in this office.
With harm to none, so mote it be.”

“Watchtowers of the West and of Water,
Lend your compassionate and soothing energies to all that is done in this office.
With harm to none, so mote it be.”

Stand in the center of your workspace, draw energy from the Earth below up through your feet to the top of your head. Then draw energy from the sun and moon above through the top of your head to your feet.

Say:

“Oh Mother Earth, may your creative energies support the work I do in this place.
May all who enter here feel your loving presence.
Oh Father Sun and Goddess of the Triple Moon, please shine your lights upon all that is done here,
that it may be for your Highest Good and the Highest Good of all concerned.
With harm to none, so mote it be.”
