You know those times when you feel like forgiving someone is just impossible? It happens to all of us – someone hurts us, betrays us, or maybe we even feel disappointed in ourselves. It’s tough, no doubt about it. Letting go of all that pent-up resentment and anger can feel like an uphill battle, and it can be really hard to summon the mental strength to forgive.
At the end of the day though, the anger and resentment only hurts ourselves. These emotions get stuck in us, and continually affect our vibration. Forgiveness is the key that sets us free.
That’s why I’m here today, ready to share a bit of magick with you! These spells can really help when you’re struggling to forgive.
1. A Forgiveness Spell For Someone Close to You
Having a grudge against someone close to you can be really troublesome. You love them a lot, but there are moments when forgiveness feels out of reach, and that’s okay. Sometimes, we all need a little extra assistance through the form of magick to let go of that resentment.
You will need:
- A pink candle
- A blue candle
- Rose oil
If you want the spell to be even more potent, use a picture of yourself, as well as a picture of the person you want to forgive. Simply place these next to the candles, then anoint them with the rose oil.
Anoint the candles with rose oil and light them.
Stare at the pink candle’s flame for a few moments, and visualize a soothing, nurturing pink energy emanating from it, and enveloping you. Rest in the energy for a few moments, then do the same for the blue candle, imagining a cleansing and purifying blue energy emanating from it and enveloping your body.
Keep this visual in your mind, and see the two lights intertwining and mingling to create a beautiful purple hue – the color of inner wisdom and enlightenment.
Repeat the following incantation three times while visualizing the purple light growing more and more powerful and bright:
In moments deep with hurt and pain,
A spell to free the heart’s constrains,
Let resentment fade and sorrow depart,
Forgiveness blooms, a brand new start.
See the purple light turning lighter and lighter in hue, until it becomes a dazzling white. Now let this white light dissipate and feel the calm that remains.
Let the candles burn down all the way (be sure to supervise them). The spell is done.
2. A Self-Forgiveness Ritual
If you have caused someone harm or hurt, it’s normal to feel guilty about it. It happens to all of us at some point. But let’s be real with ourselves – we’re not perfect, and mistakes are just a part of being human. We mess up, big or small, and that’s okay.
If you’re really struggling to forgive yourself, this magick spell will help.
You will need:
- A black candle
- A cup of water (preferably a chalice)
- A green potted plant
- An image of the Goddess
- Milk (dairy or plant-based, both are fine)
To begin, light the black candle and take hold of the cup or chalice. Make sure the green plant and the image of the Goddess are set before you, ideally placed close together for easy access.
Now, take a moment to think about the thing you’ve done in the past that fills you with self-blame. It’s okay to acknowledge these feelings; this ritual is about releasing their hold on you. Allow these emotions to build up, like a gathering storm within you, ready to be transformed.
Once you’ve recognized and acknowledged those feelings, it’s time to let go. Project that negative energy into the water, as if releasing it from your being. Imagine the water as a conduit, carrying away the weight of self-blame and guilt.
Once the water is full of the energy and you feel lighter, pour the water onto the plant while repeating the following incantation:
With water’s flow, I release and mend,
Negative energy, now transform and transcend.
To the plant I pour, with gratitude, I send,
Purified and renewed, may this cycle now end.
As you pour the water onto the green plant, thank it for its role in this transformative process. The plant symbolizes renewal and growth, taking the negative energy and turning it into something positive.
Now, it’s time to conclude the ritual with forgiveness. Blow out the candle, signifying the end of the old and the beginning of the new. Fill the cup or chalice with milk, representing purity and nourishment.
Gaze at the image of the Goddess, and with sincerity, seek forgiveness. Recite the following incantation:
Goddess kind, I come to thee,
Seeking forgiveness, so mote it be.
With open heart and soul set free,
Your love and grace, please grant to me.
Picture her hands cupping yours, radiating a loving energy that fills you with peace and safety. Feel her forgiveness, and offer yourself the same kindness.
With this newfound sense of forgiveness and acceptance, drink from the cup or chalice. Feel the purifying energy flowing through you, cleansing your spirit and allowing you to embrace self-compassion.
From now, you have her blessing to let go of your guilt.
3. A Self-Forgiveness Meditation
For this meditation, you don’t need any supplies, but I recommend burning a stick of rose vanilla incense. Its sweet aroma can add a touch of tranquility to the experience, helping forgiveness to flow smoothly within you.
Find a comfy spot to sit down and take a moment to connect with your inner self. Feel your heart beat. Feel it pump your blood. Feel that warm liquid flowing through your body, carrying the life force in you. Take a deep breath, and let yourself feel at ease as you cherish this precious connection with your soul.
Once you’ve established that connection with your inner self, it’s time to talk yourself through any troubles you may be facing. Here are a few example sentences you can use as a guide:
I’m human, I make mistakes, and that’s okay. While I can’t justify my actions, I choose to let go and learn from them. I have the right to forgive myself and embrace growth with self-compassion. Each day is a new chance to become a better version of me.

4. A Spell to Forgive A Long-Time Enemy
“Enemy” may seem like a strong word, but at times, it truly captures the intensity of our emotions. If negative feelings remain unaddressed, they can fester and turn into poison in your body. If you feel this strongly towards someone, this spell can be a guiding light towards inner peace and forgiveness for your soul.
You will need:
- A red candle
- A white candle
- Lavender oil
First, light the red candle. Think of all the hurt and anger – don’t be afraid to feel it fully, because it must be felt to be cleansed. Let it build up within you and visualize it as an energy. It might be red-hot, or dark and sad. Let it take whatever shape it needs to, and then speak the following incantation:
In this sacred space, I speak my truth,
You’ve wronged and hurt, that’s the root.
The pain you caused, words can’t convey,
Resentment lingers, yet I find my way.
As you speak the last words, see the energy rush out of your heart chakra and straight into the flame of the candle. Continue flowing the energy into the flame until you feel lighter. This may take a moment or it may take longer. Let it take the time it takes.
Once you feel light, blow the red candle out.
Now anoint the white candle with oil, and light it. Visualize a pure white energy descending from above, through your crown and filling your body. It is a cleansing, purifying energy. Let it fill you until you are glowing with this energy. Then repeat the following:
In this moment’s grace, I set me free,
I forgive, no judgment, let anger flee.
No more resentment, my heart released,
From now on, in peace, my soul is eased.
Sit peacefully in this energy of forgiveness for however long you feel is right. Finally, blow out the white candle.
5. A Spell to Forgive a Friend
This spell is best if the hurt is recent, as it will help you let go of the hurt much more easily and achieve forgiveness.
You will need:
- A yellow candle
- Vanilla incense
To begin, light both the candle and the incense. Take a moment to calm your body and clear your mind. Now, transport yourself back to the time they betrayed or wronged you. Feel the emotions rise, your heart sinking once more.
Allow yourself to experience the anger and disappointment, but remember, it’s all part of the healing process. Embrace those feelings with acceptance, letting them wash over you.
Now, take a deep breath and visualize yourself exhaling this negative energy. Feel the tension and negativity leaving your body with each breath out. Take your time, and feel your body letting go of more tension and negative energy with each exhale.
When you feel completely at peace and empty of negative emotions, use the final exhale to blow out the candle.
While rekindling the friendship i not a guarantee, what you can achieve is letting go. Find peace within, knowing that it’s okay to move forward.
